i didnt realize that a national cemetary was for u.s. soldiers only. that part makes sense. the reasoning of my thoughts are the results of the papers i recieved at port hudson saying that the confederate soldiers were buried in the trenches where they fell. it reports nothing about being buried by fellow confederate soldiers. i agree that if they were buried by comrades and friends that it would be the greatest honor of all. thanks for the insight.
