Thank you so much for your expert assessment.

I have printed Van Dorn's reports regarding the Vicksburg affair, and I can see how he may have ordered troops to meet Federal pickets at Monroe.

Doyle Taylor (Arkansas) says that these men then went to Pine Bluff with Roane-- at least, those who were not part of the 21st, which was re-mounted and attached to Parsons' Brigade.
