I felt certain that you could produce one of my more misleading statements, and see how it could be misunderstood.

Again, I have to beg your forgiveness. As a career computer programmer, my mind moves information into sequence and context. To me it matters greatly which event happened first -- the burial of Confederates or the Federal governments acquisition of the property for use as a national cemetery. As mentioned in Skip's post, if anyone tries to bury a Confederate soldier in a National Cemetery or even in a National Park, immediate resistance will be encountered. Hence the statement I made earlier.

Here's a final attempt at resolution --
Yes, Confederates are buried in National Cemeteries.
Virtually all such burials took place during the war.

However, after the Federal government acquired any burial property and dedicated it for use as a national cemetery, policy held that Confederate veterans could not be buried there.

I find the topic of post-war burial policies fascinating and strongly suggest that we continue discussing it whenever the opportunity arises.
