Went through Tigerland in 68 on my way to Nam and served with 101st Abn Div infantry at HuePhuBai. When you entered the gates at Ft.Polk they had this huge murial of a Tiger. The emphasis of the Tiger was to make each man a Tiger in fierceness and attitude. You were required to growl loudly like a Tiger each time you did a pushup or during bayonet training. The training there was brutal and it was common for DIs to stike a troop for non-compliance with the rules. Colin Farrel the actor was in a movie called Tigerland that gave you some idea of the brutality.
