The index in my book "Lee's Tigers" gives a breakdown of countries of origin for the members of the 8th Louisiana. Two, indeed, were from Brazil. In all 277 of the 1,321 men were born outside the U.S. I obtained this info from the regiment's muster book located in Tulane University's special collections, but did not write down individual names.
