Danny - I have a letter written by Sgt George Dixon of Company C of the 12th LA infantry. His brother John was Captain of Co C and was also my Great-Great Grandfather. The letter is hard to read in places, but it was written from Holly Springs Mississippi and was dated Oct 12, 1862. It indicates they fought at Corinth and Uncle George mentions Standifer's Company lost 4 killed and Jordan's Company 2 or 3 killed. He says they were beaten by the enemy on the second day of fighting. Captain John Dixon and Pvt Benjamin Dixon (yet another brother) were among the burial detail sent to bury the dead. I hope this is of some help and will check more into the letter to see if I can make out any of the parts that are still rather hard to read.
