Danny & Randy:

The 12th Louisiana Infantry was definitely on the battlefield at Corinth. The regiment had men wounded and captured during the campaign, but no battle deaths.

They returned from Port Hudson to Holly Springs a few days before the advance to Corinth began. As part of General Villepigue's Brigade, they spent the night of October 3rd on the battlefield about 600 yards outside the College Hill line. The next morning, they were not ordered to attack because General Lovell discovered the large array of cannon posted at that point in the Federal line. As I recall, he thought there were only a few guns mounted there. By the time the higher level commanders finished discussing the situation, the battle was over. The 12th Louisiana helped cover the rear of the retreating Confederates.

I am away from my "archives" visiting with family in South Carolina, so this is off the top of my head.
