Mr. Jones, I have your book "Lee's Tigers" and what a help that was, an excellent book!

I live in Washington Dc and my friends and I have been putting together a collection of Union flags captured during the war. We have 1,000 flags already and sometimes we get lucky at the Library of Congress and the National Archives.

The biggest question....At 1st Manassas, Wheat's Battalion captured a Union flag. I have not found a single soul who knows what that flag was.

I came across an article that stated "When Early's Brigade moved up the Tiger Rifle company joined and captured two cannons". These captured cannons were then given to the Washington Artillery (LA). So I thought just maybe a Union artillery guidon was captured?

I have been to the 1st Manassas battlefield plenty of times and not much help there.

These were family on my mother's father's side. They originally came from Southern France then to Canada. Seems some made it down to Louisiana. We do know that some of them fought in the French and Indian war. They were fur trappers in the 1600-1700's.
