Re: Wheat's Battalion at 1st Manassas

Thank you Mr. Jones and Jim! I am determined to find that flag. Any and all information I find at the LOC or National Archives I will report it to the both of you.

I found something interesting...

The battle of "Williamsburg Road" (after Yorktown).

"Paul's Battalion" Captured the "Colors" of the 54th Pennsylvania. The battalion went into battle with 200 men and lost all but 73.

I found that on the "Richmond Dispatch" website.

Look for "Monday morning...June 2nd, 1862".

This is the same battle where the Confederates captured many batteries and found a flag "To Hell or Richmond". I believe that "Battery" was the "Empire Battery" as mentioned on the Richmond Dispatch. Captain Miller commanded the "Empire Battery".

The 12th and 6th Alabama captured a battery of 10 pieces.
12th Va and 3rd Alabama captured a battery.
1st Va and 4th Nc captured a battery.

The "Richmond Dispatch" as been a huge help filling in gaps.

We will continue the search for as many Union flags we can find.

Have a good morning!
