Shawn, just a word of caution on using newspapers. While they are useful in filling in some details and finding anecdotal stories and info on particular units or individuals, you have to take everything they say with a grain of salt. Newspapers were (and still are) notorious for being inaccurate. Just as today, they tried to scoop competitors on war news and often printed "facts" that were based on word of mouth or second hand information. My advice is to always refer to the Official Records or some other primary source to try to verify newspaper accounts.
