Re: Camp Pratt Location

Pvt Benjamin Garner enlisted in Company I, 7th Texas Cavalry CSA on July 7, 1863 in Anderson County Texas. He was probably sent to CAMP PRATT for training. He was at Camp Pratt on Nov. 20, 1863 when a Yankee Reconnaissance In Force took place in the vicinity.

He was captured by the 19th Army Corps USA under Gen Banks and sent from Camp Pratt to New Orleans Nov. 23 and imprisoned at the Customs House. From New Orleans, he was sent back to New Iberia - Camp Pratt? - for prisoner exchange on Dec 21, 1863.

Then, a month later, he was given 40 days leave from Jan 20, 1864.

He was with the Confederate forces surrendered at New Orleans by Gen. E. Kirby Smith, CSA to Gen. E. R. S. Canby, USA on May 26, 1865.

(Canby was the same General who had defeated the "Arizona Brigade" including the 7th Texas in New Mexico.)
