Re: John Dimitry of the Crescent Regiment

I have not checked with them yet, but sounds like a good possibility. I did find, yesterday, that Duke Univ has a collection of papers for John Bull Smith Dimitry that, if I'm not mistaken, is one in the same. It has a short bio and a list of the collection. I see nothing in the list that would indicate information on the Crescent, however I will pursue with the Duke library and also the NO library. Apparently he was severely wounded at Shiloh and never returned to combat, being assigned instead to the Confederate Postal Service. That may explain why he did not write on the Crescent. Thanks again for your input.
