Hello Linda,
Your veteran, Pinckney May died on October 21st, 1861. The key to where is when the 17th left Camp Moore. In checking our records, they must have left after or during December 1861. Many men from the 17th died here and they were scattered throughout October, November and December. We do not currently have a headstone for Pvt. May but will consider obtaining one as soon as I get a chance to see his compiled service record at the Archives. I wish I could tell you more about Pvt. May. If you have anything you care to share with us, we'll be very happy to create a vertical file on him. Thanks for inquiring.
Regards,
Wayne Cosby
