This probably would have been in the Shreveport area. The 22nd Texas Cavalry (Dismounted) was a part of a new brigade created for Brigadier General Camille J., Prince de Polignac. A biography of the latter states that the brigade went into a "'camp of instruction' a relatively safe four miles out from Shreveport on the appropriately named Texas Road." This would have been west of the town. It appears that the brigade remained in this camp until early July, when it marched to Grand Ecore. Allston may have been the name of the local landowner.
