The ancestor I'm looking for (John Singleton Finley)was called Jack as a nickname. I didn't mention that thinking any papers he signed would be under his legal name. It appears John or J.S. on census records. "Jackson" puzzles me but it almost has to be him. How many by that name would leave a widow named Sarah in Little River County...John S. also had a brother named Davis. That could be the other "D" Finley in the records.
