Company E, Siege Train Battalion, was Boone's Louisiana Battery or the 2nd Louisiana Field Artillery Battery. At the time it was at Fort Buhlow, it was commanded by Captain Samuel M. Thomas. Lawrence Hewitt and I wrote a book about Boone's Battery in 1986. You should be able to borrow a copy from the State Library of Louisiana through your local interlibrary loan office.
