Re: What are the best books on the Red River Campa

Bryce,
One of the most enjoyable books I have read is Dark and Bloody Ground: The Battle of Mansfield and the Forgotten Civil War in Louisiana, by the late Thomas Ayres. (Taylor Publishing Company, Dallas, 2001). I think it is a great read for any student of the Red River Campaign. Though it is lacking in Endnotes, (a mistake I made myself on my first book) it contains a great Bibliography. Ayres was a great Author whose writing style is much admired by many on this board, including myself.
Best,
