Milton, I just realised that, if, as you state, there are records showing that John Francis owned property in Mansfield, do these records include the names of his children at that period, and also if his place of birth, wife's name, etc., are shown? If so, then these can be used to clear up some of the details, as we do know that John Fearn, who was supposed to be the same John Francis who served in the 28th Louisiana, was born in the U.K. and his wife was named Ellen. As well, we know that John Fearn and his wife, Ellen, had four children, Eliza born 1856, Mary born 1859, William born 1862 and John born 1865.
Are these details available for John Francis? This would help much in clearing up some of the mysteries about John Fearn, and I know that the descendant would love to know about these details. Thanks for any help on this.
