Years ago I was talking with an elderly man in his 80's that knew many soldiers personally. He said that the Louisiana Tigers regiments were full of criminals, pickpockets, etc. Wherever they went, Officer's whiskey bottles would be missing, money, etc. He also said that there was a company of prostitutes that followed them throughout the war. At the battle of Petersburg, the prostitutes were flashing the Union soldiers so the Confederate troops could get a shot at them. General Lee heard of what was going on and had them immediately removed from the battlefield.
