Re: John Fearn Francis
In Response To: John Fearn Francis ()

I wonder who this Phillippine gentleman who made such accusations, and who made a fool of himself is. I certainly would like to meet him, but I know of no such person here. Like everything else, errors and assumptions are often made, which are never verified. I have made an apology for the Fearn error, and know my conscience is clear. I also know that Fearn never used the name of Francis while he was a convict in Australia, and that particular surname was only used while in America, for very obvious reasons. Fearn and his days as a convict in Australia are documented at the Tasmanian and other archives, so there is absolutely no doubt. As well there is absolutely no record of a marriage between Ellen Malley and John Fearn or John Francis recorded there, but Ellen Malley is shown to have married a gentleman named Brawdie. The records are clear, and the evidence is available, unlike any evidence of a John Henry Graydon having served in the Missouri Artillery, a James Coffey buried in Queensland, having served in the Confederate Navy, or a John McBride, who served in the 38th New York and was killed at Bull Run, having gone to New Zealand. Nor is there any evidence of Charles Henry Hill buried at Melbourne, having served in the Maine regiment mentioned, or of William Eugene Yeatman of the 2nd Tennessee being buried at the Colac Cemetery. There is no evidence at all of these, nor of the dozens of other major errors, nor will there ever be a major apology made on these boards, no doubt. The poor ladies at Colac stated clearly to me that they had given evidence that Yeatman buried there never was in the Civil War, but, as they stated to me "He just doesn't listen." Francis Marion Bates, the actor who died in Melbourne in 1879 was never in Hilliard's Legion or the 10th Confederate Cavalry, and Patrick O'Leary, buried in Sydney was never in the 47th Georgia. The evidence is so clear, when perused thoroughly, and this evidence is freely available online and in many publications that should not be ignored.
