I found my ancestor Samuel Johnston Bruce on a database by a Mr. Cosby. He had information I did not have concerning death date and grave site. He did not have his date of birth. His date of birth was 08 Sep 1835 according to the Bruce Family Bible in my father's possession. There were 4 Bruce brothers that all enlisted and served in Co. C of the 49th. AL Inf during the War Between the States. Ignatius Bailey Bruce died 27 Apr 1862 in Louisville, KY from injuries received in the Battle of Shiloh and is among the few Confederates buried in the Cave Hill Federal Cemetery in Louisville. Harris Gillam Bruce was on the list of prisoners captured at Port Hudson that was paroled. He and William Flemming Bruce both survived the war.
