Re: Help locate Civil War Soldier's Record

Alan,
John and Catherine Newsom- 1850 Crawford County, GA Census - W J. Newsom age 19 living with parents.
John and Catherine Newsom - 1860 Claiborne Parish, Louisiana Census - Did not find W. J. Newsom on any Census. John and Catherine died about 1867 in Claiborne Parish.
William J. Newsom - 1855 married Ann Johnson in Paulding County, GA.
No further information on these 2 people.
James Newsom brother to John Newsom moved to Claiborne Parish, LA in 1856 along with his wife Emily Bickley Newsom.
Elizabeth Newsom, daughter of John and Catherine, married Franklin Elkins in 1854 in Paulding County, GA. They moved to Claiborne Parish, LA after 1854, probably the same time John and Catherine and their other children did in 1856.
Thomas Madison Newsom and James Henry Newsom - According to Thomas Madison and James Henry's death certificates their parents were William Newsom and mothers maiden name was Johnson.
Thomas Madison's first appearance was on the 1880 Census living with Uncle James Newsom.
James Henry's first appearance was on the 1870 Census living in the household of Franklin and Elizabeth Elkins. James Henry was listed as an orphaned nephew.

Based on other records I do not believe William J. Newsom lived long enough after the Civil War to apply for a pension.
