Yes, this may very well be the same person. This might be confirmed by looking at the National Archives microfilm of his name under both units. If you don't have that film available nearby, let me know and I will try to look it up at the university nearby when I get a chance. Also, Clifton Cardin's "Bossier Parish History: the First 150 Years, 1843 - 1993" has some information on both Miles and Margaret Weeks Covington.

I wish I knew more about Red Land, as my relatives were from there too during the time of the Civil War. The community has sadly just disappeared over the years.
