I would have to go through my stuff but, I remember a norther (can be hurricane force winds)sunk a Gulf packet with several companies of the 3rd NY Cav.on board off the coast of MS.possibly ALA.,blown off course,headed back to Morganza(sp),LA. fall of 1863.I'll find if interested.
