Re: Johnson Bayou/CalcasieuPass

Gwen,

I talked with a Calcasieu Parish deputy back a few weeks ago which would have been right after IKE. He had been assisting the coronor on coffin retrieval. As Mike can expound on as well since he works for the newspaper, but as many as 500 coffins had floated up from several cemeteries in Cameron Parish, many of these same coffins had floated up earlier in RITA. Some has just been found that had been lost since RITA. From talking with this deputy seems Hackberry, Cameron and Johnson Bayou had the most losses. He told me that authorities had found a vault in Beaumont that had floated from Johnson Bayou. I know it sound far fletched that a vault could float that far, but the surge was quite awful. From the acounts that I have read TEXAS was even more extensive as the surge was greater. I hope this helps, but its quite possible that your loved ones grave was damaged.

Sincerely,

Larry Young
