In the July 1900 Conf Vet is an obit for a Capt Thomas Wallace. He was living in New Orleans at the outbreak of the war and, "joined the Crescent Regiment, being with that regiment at the capitulation of Fort Donelson." The Crescent was mustered into service in Mar of '62, several weeks after the battle at Fort Donelson. Is it possible that an advance unit of the Crescent mustered in earlier than the main body of the regiment? Were there any Louisiana troops at Fort Donelson?
