Killed by jayhawkers

It seems that the residents of Dry Creek have a local story about two Confederate veterans. The men were returning from the war and stopped to camp just short of Dry Creek. They were jumped by Jayhawkers and killed. The men are buried on a deer lease off of Longville road. The names of the men are Lemuel Jackson (Bradford) and William Washington Green. Does anyone have further information that might help verify their military service???
