Mutiny at Fort Jackson
Michael D. Pierson [Mutiny at Fort Jackson: The untold story of the fall of New Orleans] has an article in the December North & South on this subject that indicates that the mutinying soldiers were in large part foreign-born, perhaps Irish. I haven't read his book yet [I'm getting it]. I'd like track this down. Does anyone know the names of the units involved, and their place[s] of enlistment? If Irish, might they have been firefighters or policemen when enlisted? Thanks in advance.
