William J. Seymour, acting aide to General Duncan and whose memoirs I published, confirmed that the men who mutinied were mostly foreign born. He never identified specific units, except for the St. Mary Cannoneers who remained loyal. One of the officers who served in the fort was with the 1st Division, Louisiana Militia, so that may have been the unit that garrisoned the fort.
