Hutton's Crescent Artillery

On two recent, separate posts, Capt. T. H. Hutton's Crescent Artillery was mentioned. On one of those posts, it was stated that it was composed mostly of men from the Crescent Infantry Regiment. The NPS Soldiers and Sailors site agrees. However, neither Art's Guide or Sifakis' Compendium mentions this connection. Booth's doesn't list Hutton (or the other officers) as having been in both. Since the two units were mustered into service in New Orleans about a week apart, the only connection I can imagine would be for the artillery to have been a company of the Crescent as state militia only. Anyone know where I might find more definitive information on the relationship of these two units?
