Clothing Demonstration
From the “Civil War” Period
At Young-Sanders Center

Mrs. Linda Hall of Zachary, Louisiana will give a clothing demonstration on ladies clothing during the time period of the “Civil War” on Saturday May 30, 2009 at the Young-Sanders Center in Franklin, Louisiana. The demonstration is open to the general public and will begin at 1:30 at the J. Y. Sanders Hall located at 701 Teche Drive. Admission is free to the public.

Linda and her husband Murray are “Civil War” reenactors since 1990. Mrs. Hall will also demonstrate the use of the spinning wheel. Linda has been a dress maker for years. She began to study fabric and patterns as well as the manners and customs of the period. “I was most fortunate to find a 200 year old loom and I am now proud to say that I have weaved enough hand spun thread into jean cloth to make my husband’s new reenacting uniform. Murray and I are active in living history. We present demonstrations in schools in which Murray shows antique guns while I demonstrate spinning, weaving, and dyeing using natural dyes along with natural fibers.”
