Interesting thoughts. I wasn't aware of Wade's Crescent Artillery until you pointed it out. Being an Orleans unit organized into service in New Orleans only a month before the Crescent Infantry would seem to make it a candidate for a connection, but I haven't seen any reference to that. I found a Times Picayune advertisement dated Nov of 61 (4 mos before the Crescent Infantry transferred to Confederate service) calling for a business meeting of Wade's men in the "Crescent Artillery". It appears that they were probably separate from the infantry from the beginning. I guess they were just another of the many "Crescent" units formed in N.O. that Art mentioned.
