I agree having served on dozens of Courts-Martial, Summary, Special, and General, in all positions. His record including that of A. A. G. tends me in this direction.

Re Lisa's note regarding a penciled notation: A.J. Chambers papers that reads "Crescent Artillery La"

I found the CSRs for the Crescent Artillery buried deep in Roll 52, Captain Green's Co. (Louisiana Guard Battery), those of Captain Hutton's Company (Crescent Artillery, Co. A), Artillery. Neither Kelso, Chambers nor Valentine appear therein. Strange, the American Civil War Research Database show Captain T. H. Hutton as Captain of Company C, LA Crescent Light Artillery. However, he signs his parole at Aleandria June 3, 1865 at Captain, Company A, Crescent Artillery.
