Re: Taylor Hospital and Surgeons

Ms Turk

I really appreciate your information on Taylor Hospital. It seems to indicate that it was one of the buildings for the Louisiana Seminary of Learning, the precursor of LSU. I will look at www.lsu.edu for further information, but would appreciate a copy of the drawing or plan of the building you mentioned if you have it. I can be reached at don.gayle@verizon.net.

I have two additional questions. First, what is the source of the letter you mentioned. It seems very familiar, but I can't remember the citation. Second, I would appreciate knowing the reason for your specific interest in Taylor Hospital. In my case it relates to my GG-Grandfather, Albert Evan Cassady, whom some evidence indicates was an asst. surgeon at Taylor Hospital from late 1862 to late 1864. My Mother has done a great deal of genealogy work on the Cassady family and has not been able to specifically determine his location and activity during the war until I recently ran across a mention of him & Taylor Hospital.

Thanks again for your help and sharing of information..

Don Parker
