I am seeking futher clarification if a rumor and would like some help, if you would. In my research I came across a line stating that the Confederate quartermaster dyed federal army jackets captured early in the war (the Valley Campaign). I read they would first bleach these jackets, then dye them butternut. Can you help me find a reliable reference on this?
