SUV Meet & Civil War Talk in Little Rock AR

REMINDER: Sons of Union Veterans Meeting Little Rock
As a first effort to organize a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Arkansas Camp, a meeting date of Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History [503 E Ninth St, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202 (501) 376-4602] has been set. The SUVCW has a private room reserved and, besides wanting to speak with potential members, a Civil War presentation will be made by past Department of Missouri Commander Walt Busch on the Battle of Pilot Knob in Price's Raid.
Walt Busch is the site director of Fort Davidson State Historic Site in Missouri and author of a book on the life of Gen. Thomas Ewing and a soon-to-be published book of transcriptions from the Missouri Democrat newspaper concerning Price's Raid.
The event will begin around 12 noon and end around 2:00 p.m. We hope to see you all there. It is the goal of the Department of Missouri SUVCW to at least annually hold a meeting in Arkansas until a camp can be formed and gets off the ground. Currently enough members exist in Arkansas to start the camp chartering process provided a few more are willing to participate.
If you have questions regarding this meeting, please contact Walt Busch at PO Box 381 Arcadia, MO 63621-0381 or at wbusch@suvcwmo.org.
If planning to attend, spouses are also welcome to attend the presentation.
