I applaud your efforts on the Far West which are obscure to many. I look forward to your completed project.

Thank you for encouraging me to keep working on the "Far West" (North and West Frontier).
.
Just so you'll know, I'm preparing the sixth edition, yes 6th edition, of my huge 7.3-pound book that addresses 24 counties of North and West Texas, from handwritten records. Why did I compile such a big book?
.
In order to interpret THE BOURLAND PAPERS and Bourland's Regt. Cavalry National Archival records, (skimpy at best), I had to include 240 North Texas militia listings in order to learn where his men had served earlier. In July 1864, THE GALVESTOR WEEKLY NEWS reported that 5,000 soldiers were patrolling the North and West Frontier.
.
Since my book is from handwritten records, I've been trying for years to find each soldier in a second source. Yes, my 1,046-page book has a 200-page Name Index.
.
Again, the military units, with numbers, that patrolled the North and West Frontier are outlined on my web page:

.
Many of the records of these military units show only a surname ... a usually misspelled surname. Any help would be appreciated. All I know about the Wells' Battn is on:
