Don, thank you so much for helping me look. For the life of me, I don't even understand why he served in Louisianna and not Texas. He lived in Bosque, Rusk and Hill counties. His brother served in the 27th Cavalry - Whitfields Legion. He's just a mystery kind of guy.

Also, I'm wondering if you recognize the medallion in this photo by any chance. This photo is not labelled and I don't think he is my Grandfather...perhaps a brother. But I've looked at Civil War Medallions and have not seen one with stars on the actual banner...nor does the shape of what hung from it make any sense to me.
