Re: 5th Louisianna Cavalry Company F

Thanks. I've checked out that Owen D. Griffin several times. He was only 18 and my guy was 34 so I don't think that is him. So far all I have been able to find is his Application for Indigent solider, pension and land grant in which he was awarded 110 acres in Bosque county for his service...so I am thinking they would not have given him land or the pension if he deserted. So all in all...that Owen D. Griffin is probably a cousin or nephew in our line somewhere...but not sure where. For the life of me, I can't even figure out why he would have served in Louisianna. He was in Bowie county Tx in 1855, no sign of him anywhere on census records in 1860 in Texas or Arkansas or Louisianna (checked them all), and then he in Bosque county in 1870 and 1880. Anyway, thank you very much for your suggestions. I will see if I can find some others who might have served with him...
