I would appreciate any assistance in clarifying the unit associations of Capt Bailie P L Vinson of Vinson's Scouts and his command associations in LA. I have his Service Record from NARA CSR M320 and know that he was 1) a 2nd Lt. for Co. D of the 11th LA Infantry, 2) a Private and later Captain of Co G, 2nd Louisiana Cavalry, and 3) Capt of Vinson's Scouts. I would appreciate any information that would help clarify his association with the 2nd LA Cavalry and how he transitioned his unit into Vinson's Scouts, an independent units(?).

It seems logical that this transition was associated with the promotion of JL Brent to Brigadier General by Kirby Smith, and the formation of Brent's Brigade of Cavalry, but I have found no documentation to explain his reporting and command arrangements.
