Griffin enlisted as a Private in Company F, 27th Louisiana Infantry March 16, 1862 at New Orleans by Lieut Zacherie for the duration of the War, captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4, 1863, paroled July 8 or 9, 1863, reported to Shreveport, La. April 1, 1864 for exchange, no further records

[Note: There were no surviving muster rolls for Company F, hence, we have no idea from these records of him after April 1, 1864]
