It would certainly be great to see and hold this 150+ year old treasure. A question - Do you have any documentation, pictures or family history information that relates to the service of the two Olives in the Civil war. As I mentioned earlier, they are listed in the 1860 US Census from Natchitoches Parish (as Oliver). I also found a William W Olive in the 1850 US census in Mississippi, but I don't think he is the same Olive. On Ancestry.com I did find a reasonable amount of information on both Sr. and Jr., with both dying in Bosque, TX - Sr. in 1870 and Jr. in 1886 (Knott-Cochran Family Tree). The Ancestry.com file had no information on their CW service record.

With 8 identified family members in the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry, and 2 more possibles (working on confirmation), I have a real interest in the 2nd LC. If you have any pertinent information on the Olive's and the 2nd LC, I would really appreciate hearing about it, and obtaining copies.
