The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Memorial Hall Foundation

I just got my copy of the Memorial Hall Foundation Summer Newsletter and want to complement the organization and all contributors on a most interesting issue! The lead article features “Beast Butler” while two additional articles report on the recent auction of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry flag (Taylor’s pattern) and the history of the Louisiana Secession flag in the MHF collection. The final article deals with the Bailey Brothers of Massachusetts & New Orleans: George Bailey died fighting for the Union at Port Hudson, and Charlie Bailey, a member of the Fifth Company, Washington Artillery, died fighting for the Confederacy at Chickamauga.

If you are not currently a member and active supporter of this important repository of Louisiana Confederate memorabilia, please consider joining! See the MHF website at http://www.confederatemuseum.com/pages/members.html.
