Mansfield Visit

Had a great time and a discovery. Went to Mansfield and Pleasant Hill Battlegrounds this past weekend and found the personell at the Mansfield museum very helpful and knowledgable. I went to try to learn more of my ancestors who were at this battle. I also located the grave of my GGG Uncle of the 1st Texas Infantry in an abandoned cemetery east of Hornbeck La. (Old Merrit Cemetery) on the FT. Polk Artillery Range which is accessible when not in use. This was originally his farm and there are four graves there; Robert, his wife, and the wifes parents. I plan on showing family members where it is located and do our best to keep it up. I live in Groves, Tx. and my kin live in Nacogdoches, Tx. and Livingston, Tx. Robert Thomas Conner Co."K". 1st Texas Inf. Enlisted July 11, 1862 in San Augustine,Texas Elected Sgt. on May 15, 1862 Co."K". Enlisted July 11, 1862 in San Augustine,Texas. Wounded Suffolk,Va. May 3, 1863. Home on wounded furlough and reported to Gen. Smith and wounded at Mansfield, La. as stated on Confederate military record. I have yet to nail down who he was with at Mansfield. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm still at a deadend on my GGG Grandfather John Wesley Conner who was killed at Mansfield. Like his brother, he originally enlisted in units which were not at Mansfield. John Wesley Conner originally mustered with Co. I 14th Texas Cav. I have been trying to find what units they were with at Mansfield and cant seem to locate them.
J.W. Conner was (KIA) on April 7 during the running skirmishes which took place. So he was probaly buried on the field.
