I'd like to praise everyone who was involved in putting on the Sesqucentennial commemoration in Alexandria and Pineville this past weekend. The events included everything from an amusing dinner theater, to re-creation of a Confederate officer's funeral, living history encampments, a battle reenactment and a panel on the Red River campaign made up of Louisiana's top Civil War historians. It was a grand time and I understand they plan to do something similar every April for the next four years, in connection with the 150th anniversaries of the war.
