I think you might mean Pvt. Richard Boyne/Byone/Boynd/Boyna/Boyle/Bayne of Co. B. Enlisted May 29, 1861, New Orleans. He was a married Irish-born laborer from New Orleans, aged 36 when enlisted. Present most of 1861-1862. Largely absent in hospital afterwards. Eventually listed as "crippled, since retired" due to a chronic ulcer of the leg. Retired to Invalid Corps Dec. 5, 1864. There is confusion over his name, as he was illiterate. He spent some fifty days on medical furlough in New Orleans in February and March of 1862, just prior to the fall of that city to the Yanks. He received several other medical furloughs, too. You can order his complete service record from the link at the top of this page.
