The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Consolidated Crescent Regiment

I have made it about half way through the G Co. morning report book and have found these entries.

Aug 6, 1864 -Private Jno. Knighton joined this company.

Aug 11, 1864 -Six conscripts, Victor Reuves, _____ Donald, H. Hollings, Jehu Knighton, Absalom Knighton and I. Bright assigned to company from camp of instruction.

Most entries show how the soldier joined, ie... enlistment, transfer, etc. but John Knighton's unfortunately doesn't give that information. As for why this information is not in the NARA records or in Booth's I can only assume that the book I have was not available to them at the time. I bought it from an autograph dealer who had no interest in the Civil War and had no idea of its history. Each day is signed by a sgt and the captain. It's fortunate he didn't try to sell it piece by piece.

The Knightons, including a WC Knighton, are also listed in a roster in the back of the book along with JS Kendrick but no Nathaniel. As I get a chance I'll try to finish looking through it. If you'd like a copy of the page I'll be glad to send it to you. Just email me at crescentregiment@comcast.net.
