No, I'm no kin to the Kelso family. I wrote a book on Fort DeRussy, Louisiana, and John Kelso was the first commanding officer there. And George Kelso, free man of color, was involved in the capture of the US gunboat "Indianola," and the expedition that captured that boat set out from Fort DeRussy. I later came across a reference to the Senator George Kelso, and became curious as to whether or not this was the same man. As best as I can tell, it was. But the complete tangle of Kelsos, with them all having the same names, had me really confused. Thank you again for sorting them out. Apparently, a lot of people in the past have not bothered to do that, but are still happy to post their "findings" on the Internet.
