Comments on Hays' brigade soldiers

Lousiana soldier records compiled by Andrew B. Booth, which is available online, lists occasional comments of a personal nature on individuals. While gathering information on soldiers who served, or possibly served, at Gettysburg from Hays' command (5-6-7-8-9 Louisiana regiments), I read the following comments and include them here for general interest, and some others for their unusual birthplace or occupations.

-Pvt Charles Brown, I/8: "absent since June 27, straggled on march from Gettysburg to York and supposed killed by citizens of Pennsylvania"
-Pvt Francois c. Carriere, F/8: (twice wounded during war bearing regimental colors)
-Pvt John Cooper, A/7: (detached in Early's Division sapper and miner corps)
-Pvt James Davine, K?/5: "gallant soldier"
-Colonel Alciabiades DeBlanc, 8: "all respected, obeyed and loved him"
-Pvt Hector DeZevallos, E/7: (born in West [Indies] Islands)
-Pvt William Dreibholtz, C/6: (born in Holland)
-Pvt Michael J. Edmonds, F/6: (occupation, professor of dancing)
-Pvt Henry Gough, B/8: "a brave and good soldier while with the company"
-Pvt Arstile Guillory, F/8: (deserted in valley of Virginia 8 July) "trifling soldier"
-Pvt/Cpl William Henry, B/6: "gallant soldier ... good man to his country"
-Pvt Walter Holland, I/8: "was never present in any engagement satisfactorily"
-Pvt Joseph Husselby, B/8: "wounded three times severely in the war and never missed a fight"
-Cpl/Pvt Eugene Journot, F/5: (born in Cuba)
-Pvt Thomas J. Kent, E/5: (detailed with cooking utensil wagon)
-Pvt Arsine Lebleu, F/8: (bit by a snake May 18, 1864, disabling him)
-LtCol Trevanion D. Lewis, Sr., 8: (killed 2 July 1863) "he was an excellent soldier and very much regretted by his regiment. A gallant, brave, and military man"
-Sgt Major Joseph B. Littlejohn, 8: "very moral youth and a perfect gentleman"
-Surgeon John M. K. Monmonier, 8: "a no. 1 surgeon and a great lady's man"
-Pvt Barton M. Mulbach, F/8: (born in Denmark) "as good and brave a soldier as any native"
-Pvt Con. McMahon, D/7: (born in New York, occupation barkeeper)
-Pvt James Pons, E/7: (born in Spain, occupation barkeeper)
-Pvt Spencer B. Porter, H/7: (captured 3 July 1863) "discharged by medical examiner's board Sept 1864 on account of idiocy"
-Pvt Joseph Schembri, G/6: (born in Malta)
-Pvt John Arthur Taylor, F/8: "young, moral and modest, as gallant and brave as ever drew a breath. A general favorite of all"
-Pvt Richard Walls, B/8: (born in Peru)
