Period Quantities

Somewhat on topic.
Been looking at the type of products the New Orleans, Jackson, and Great Northern and New Orleans, Opelousas, and Great Western RRs carried. Wondering what the quantity is for the various products is/was at that time (Winter 1862). Further down is a listing of the packaging type (bbls, heads, etc) of the various products (hay, oil, peas, etc). Does anyone have or know of a site that might indicated how big/much these package types were? (i.e. - how big a bale of hay or wool, gallons in a barrel of molassas, number of fowl in a coop of fowl, etc)
Thanks for any direction
